Particular functional demands are made on furniture where the principle of order is varied
through different expectations. A synthesis of form and function is achieved when furniture
creates a feeling of well being over and above the organization of things and at the end of
the day allows the harmonic interaction between host and guest to succeed. The furniture concepts of the young designer Jon Dekker from Amsterdam are built on this theory. He has created a product family which functions as comprehensive concept in the ensemble and also finds accord in other configurations: the chair to be stacked, the convertible table, the mobile container. Seated at the table with the functional periphery of operating makes systematic demands on the products. Through handling interaction as use is added to the very own function - spontaneous or planned. In this way the guest feels that he is in good hands ... and the objects as well. |
